+1. As a mom of mixed race kids myself, I would much rather know that someone is a tool and avoid them than invest time and energy only to find out later.

You're the perfect example why white people should really educate themselves about race relations before having mixed race kids. You might not realize it now, but your kids will judge you for this kind of attitude (if they don't already.)

PP here, and I would welcome an explanation of how this kind of attitude is problematic. I learned this principle from my AA husband, and it made sense to me. I also know as much about race relations as a white person can (worked at a number of community organizations in minority communities, worked abroad in minority communities, etc).

DH's view is that he would prefer to know who is open to him and who is not, so that he can more squarely address racism head on instead of trying to ferret out and dispel the biases that people don't even admit they hold.

So this is funny but I worked 25 min north of Pittsburgh a few years ago for 5 years. 99.9% white and pretty intolerant of blacks unless they were on the sports teams as it seemed. One day there was a car blocking the road and a black lady standing in front of it and a bald white dude just on the other side. I thought yeahhhh this is gonna be good.

Well the guy comes around and the lady moves away. He parallel parks the car for her and they are laughing and joking. He gives the keys back and walks back onto the sidewalk.

The man was wearing a red shirt with a Swastika. A Sickle and hammer. SS lightning bolts.

I was so amazed that day and wondering what people's problem with each other really were and how dumb it was

Dare to explain? What kind of attitude is that? Start fights? My dad was anti smoking and would preach any time he got (add to it that he was teaching in a medical school so he used disturbing examples). My friends would just rolled their eyes and listen, while smoking. He went on antidrinking kick too for like 10 years. It was funny. Preaching didn't go so well with people he met randomly, I was afraid someone will punch him one day.

Not necessarily confronting him directly, but reporting to an employee, or taking pictures and link the social media account of the park. If they don't already have a policy regarding neo-nazi tattoos, they'll come up with one very quickly after that.
