As for me, I dress for the activity I'm doing.

Cycling=bike shorts, jersey, gloves, etc.
Jogging=running shoes, spandex, maybe a technical shirt from a run
Yoga=yoga pants & tank
Gardening=old shorts & tee, sun hat, and gloves
Work=suit


Etc.

Wearing appropriate gear is not something to make fun of. Just because you don't get it doesn't mean you need to feel threatened by it.

Actually, this is not entirely true. When I ride on the road I generally try to minimize the inconvenience I cause drivers in general, but after reading this thread I will enjoy the fact that apparently I'm liable to cause a stroke in some subset of entitled shitbirds who think they own the road.

DH is a cyclist. He does century rides (100 milers) with groups of guys in their 40s. The kits are sometimes sponsored for fundraising, or giveaways at events (just like the technical shirts from runs that I get and wear while running--which also have a lot of advertising). Technical gear works well when you're riding for hours. I kit out even for a 15-mile ride. It's comfy. Lastly, FU for kidding body shapes. DH is overweight with a serious dad bod, and cycling is great exercise for people who are carrying weight or have knee issues / injuries because of the lack of impact.

Trust me, after riding 100 miles, cyclists don't care what you think.
