I do not applaud the First Lady for flaunting an 18 carat ring in her official portrait as First Lady. I think it's tone deaf and ostentatious. It also makes her look like someone who can be bought off by a rich older man with money, so not a good example for kids (boys or girls).
I think it's honest of her to show who she is. She was bought by an old rich man. Who will likely trade her in someday.
