Michelle was criticized primarily for wearing sleeveless to the State of the Union address. Fwiw, I thought Mrs. Pence looked tacky showing her bare arms at the luncheon.

Melania's dress was rather blah, but it wasn't inappropriate for a ball. TBH, it was hard to notice any of the other women when Ivanka was in the frame.

So you're saying you disapprove of showing bare arms as a rule?

I loved both of Melania's dresses. She looked gorgeous. I also loved Ivanka's pantsuit, but wasn't a fan of her ball gown.

I also like how Mrs. Pence's blue gown complimented Melania's white gown with the little splash of red. Nice touch!

I thought Ivanka looked fine, but it reminded me of the Britney Spears 2002ish VMA body suit with the snake...

OMG, I didn't like it either. I think she is beautiful (and usually very stylish), but that dress was matronly.

I liked it. It was interesting with the calla lily-inspired shape. I disagree with most posters because I didn't like Ivanka's 1960s pageant dress at all. But I generally don't like Carolina Herrera formal wear. I like her everyday designs.

I liked the blue. That's the one she should donate to the Smithsonian. The white gown looks like it has toilet paper wrapped around the arms.

+1 That color looked great on her. The style was better, too. I read that the family turned to Indiana seamstresses to make their gowns. I respect them for turning to Indiana folks, but unfortunately the cream lace gown drew negative attention to the IN designers.

I liked Melania's gown; she looked lovely. It didn't quite have the same "wow" factor as the blue dress and jacket that she wore to the inauguration, but it was pretty and classic yet unique.

Love everything except the blue matchy matchy shoes.

I don't like the structured off-the-shoulder neckline, because it looks like it would be awkward to move your arms, but I think Melania looked lovely. I really liked Ivanka's dress with the sparkly sleeves too.
