The Revolutionary War was our first civil war. At the start of the Revolutionary War, we were all English.
Our second Civil War should have never been fought. Lincoln said he'd of allowed the south to retain slavery if it kept the union intact. Our second Civil War was fought over states' rights and taxes flowing from the south to industrialize the north. Lincoln was every bit the racist as was Jefferson Davis. Americans have been conned that the Civil War was fought over slavery. If the Confederate flag represents racism, which it does not, then so does the American flag. If we're gonna vanquish the Confederate flag over the fallacy that it represents racism, them we must also replace the American flag because the Union was every bit as racist, if not more so, than was the Confederacy.
You've swallowed a gullibility potion. No, the Civil War was totally about slavery.
So you know nothing about Civil War history. You're one of many tens of million dumbed down Americans. So you're not foundering along in stupidity.

Who knows nothing? PP is right about the gullibility potion.

This is just patently false. Let me guess - you didn't watch you just read about it on Breitbart.

For me, there is something deeply moving when watching a military march. Watching our military with such precision and discipline is impressive.
Since less than half of one percent of our population is active military, not everyone has had the opportunity to witness a military parade in person. It stirs patriotism in people.
Perhaps this is what Trump is hoping to invoke in our citizens - a sense of patriotism - non partisan patriotism.

Very few people in America have any contact with the Military.
Why should we? It's volunteer. I chose a different path for my life. I also have very little contact with police, doctors, politicians, garbage collectors, etc. why should I go out of my way to connect with any specific profession?
Your arrogance is truly offensive. Clearly, you didn't live through the Vietnam War and the draft. Personally, I'm deeply grateful to the people who chose to serve on the battlefield so my son didn't have to. A lot of them didn't have the same opportunities and options that you may have. BTW, I'm a liberal and I despise Trump.

When you're actually patriotic, you don't have to wrap yourself up in the flag and carry a cross.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:I'm ok with military marching band parades. And the Blue Angels. But no tanks!
It would be great if you saw tanks and sat in one and saw how small it was for the crew to live and fight in, and see how heavy the rounds are, and appreciate the job tank crews do to defend America. About 3,500 soldiers and their tanks just deployed to Europe to defend Europe, and America by extension.
