House Speaker Paul Ryan called the Obama measures "appropriate" but also "overdue" and "a prime example of this administration's ineffective foreign policy that has left America weaker in the eyes of the world."
Other GOP leaders sounded much the same theme.
"[We have] been urging President Obama for years to take strong action to deter Russia's worldwide aggression, including its cyber-hacking operations," wrote Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., chairman of the House Intelligence Committee.
"Now with just a few weeks left in office, the president has suddenly decided that some stronger measures are indeed warranted."
Appearing on CNN, frequent Obama critic Trent Franks, R-Ariz., called for "much tougher" actions and said three times that Obama had "finally found his tongue."

What was the purpose? Just another Obama temper tantrum. A sign of huge weakness on Obama's part, not strength.

I look at this entire thread and wonder what happened to civic pride and leadership. Are we just going to ignore 50+ years of anomisity towards Russia? Ignore the fact that if anyone else other the future POTUS was saying these things about a foreign leader as vile as Putin s/he would be strung up on espionage charges? I really don't get it, even if you support a political party, surely you support the integrity of your country first???
I mean what is this country coming it if one can't even count a collective cold-war mindset 30 years later. Next thing you know Japanese and Germans will be allies. Unacceptable!
Hmmm, let's see. Russia is still a war-mongering superpower with nuclear weapons and a dictator for a leader, so not much has changed.
Look, just because Putin's a war mongering dictator doesn't mean he hasn't run rings around Obama. Obama pulled a jackass maneuver on his way out of office to escalate conflict between Russia and the U.S. for no other reason than to cause havoc for Trump's presidency. Putin smoothly outsmarted him by NOT retaliating in kind because what Obama did was so transparent. The 35 spy/diplomats expelled had no connection with the alleged email hacking.

No evidence has been shown by US intelligence that Russia hacked anything other than the DNC.
There's evidence of other hacking. But as far as you're concerned, it's ok as long as it's just the DNC. Does it bother you that they also hacked into our electrical grids.
There's simply no evidence to support what you state. Podesta got phished, that's his dumbo fault.

And that alone is foreign meddling into US political affairs. [/quote
In terms of importance for national interest DNC is not in top 10000 U.S. servers. If the information obtained was so sensitive newspapers should not have published it. OPM hack was an order of magnitude more damaging affecting millions of people with clearances and it was met with a shrug and was in the news for like 3 hours. But because now it's red menace time we need to launch nuclear war because Russians hacked into local 7-11.

This is treason, plain and simple. Where are the true patriots and Americans to denounce this?
