FFS! There is a Hardy feeder school group made up of PTA/PTO types that I participate on! that seemed like a decent starting point of a place to ask for help and support.
Awesome! And what exactly would y'all have done to help????
Anonymous wrote:No, not at all. This person is saying the Hyde-Addison principal opposes it.
Principal Pride has clearly stated she cannot and will not comment on (or take a position on) Fillmore in her current role. She does mention very fondly that her own children went to Fillmore and she still has their art from it!

They could put Fillmore at Ellington, or put more trailers for Hyde at Hardy. The real challenge for Fillmore is (and always has been) the fact the DCPS is determined to close the program. Their recent "bus contract" switch that effectively cut the program time doesn't bode well for any of us who love Fillmore.
just put trailors on the already tiny amount of field space Hardy has now? "Just" move Fillmore to Ellington (no possibility of this has ever been discussed and they'd have to build this etc). Nice entitled Hyde parent... this is so bogus and the type of attitude that is engendering the cross school hostility. Neither Mitch nor Lafayette came gunning against their fellow feeder schools over their renovations.
What do they have to build? They have a 600 person capacity space designed for arts education that is unoccupied half the day over at ellington. Why not discuss it? This isn't about gunning against anyone. Talk about it. Work it out. And Fillmore is definitely in trouble if it loses one of the schools it serves.
The H-A principal does not like or value Fillmore. She has been clear about that. H-A will have in-house art and music after its renovation. That's already part of the plans so trying to scare Hardy feeders into lobbying for allowing H-A at Hardy won't work. You guys are leaving Fillmore regardless. When Fillmore does leave Hardy, Trish Pride will need the vacated space for her growing middle school.
Anonymous wrote:I think Hardy and it's feeders have to keep a close eye on this issue because while the Mayor publicly said that the decision for H-A to swing at Meyer is final, Jack Evans could still raise it with the Council. The Mayor said the decision is final at a recent Citizens Association of Georgetown meeting. She said she didn't think that disrupting two school communities was a good idea and also acknowledged that even within the H-A community the stance against Meyer is NOT unanimous (prob because they are majority OOB and Meyer isn't that much of a trip). But now that our school is aware is what H-A tried to do to Hardy we aren't going to take our eyes off this.

Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:So let me get this straight, the Hardy Community (who has been so desperately trying to build a better school through cultivation of in-bound feeder kids) would rather decimate one of those feeder schools and reap the consequences of what will likely be a majority OOB Meyer-located Hyde for years to come because they feel slighted. Makes sense.
OR you could have shown us a little mercy, and we might have considered sending our kids to Hardy.
Um, so feeder school wants to decimate Hardy ruining the pathway for all of us ..... seriously. Esp the the feeder with 60% OOB?
Still can't tell from this tread if this is still a proposal on the table or just still hashing the aftermath? If still on the table, the parents still trying to save Fillmore will be up doubly up at arms.

Apparently what is good enough for Hyde kids wasn't good enough for theirs. And Murch got 8.9 million for their space up at UDC. Likewise Lafayette. Who exactly is entitled? As for Marie Reed, the route you get bused on doesn't take 40 minutes. That is how much time DCPS found the route from Hyde to Meyer could take.
I there are so few kids who live in Burleith that this is a non issue really and the ones who are there would much rather go to stoddert where we can walk anyway!
Sure, but DC has decided to redistrict Burleith to Hyde. Once that happens Stoddert is not an option for Burleith, unless you lottery in.
