How often do we see threads saying "avoid Herndon" and "avoid South Lakes" --- but never see threads saying "avoid Madison" or "avoid Lake Braddock and West Sprngfld."
Did you know that the white kids at Stuart(!!) have a slightly higher average than those at Centreville and Fairfax.
Frankly, I think the listing showing the whole school's composite average are ridiculous. And when you start looking at the sub-groups, you really see the effect of HHI --even within subgroups.
Housing dictates school scores. If the price-point of the housing in a school zone doesn't change... the scores aren't likely to change. HHI influences the housing that one can afford, which influences the wealth and resources of the student body, which influences overall academic achievement ... which influences composite SAT scores for schools.
Stay classy, PP.
PP here -- I just meant that Stuart is SO maligned on these boards and I had never really looked at its stats. I was surprised given how I have never heard even one good word about it on DCUM. Herndon, SL, Hayfield, Edison -- you hear some positives now and then. Stuart -- never. Just goes to show that DCUM speaks more in generalities than specifics.
