+1. I'm a quintessential DC-type, but will be there first to acknowledge that this is the most "basic" big city I've ever lived in. For some reason, the arts never really flourished here. I blame the #1 employer.
I know tons of artists in DC and DC is one of the biggest theater towns in the country. And the #1 employer is a huge benefactor of the arts both in DC and nationally.

Anonymous wrote:The "jessa from hbo's girls" as one poster in another forum put it. Where do they hang out in DC? I'm sick of biglaw harpies. I just want to hang out with a super chill and cute hippie type. You know - have names likes willow or dakota, are always in distressed jeans, and a band tour t-shirt, wear choker necklaces, have long natural hair, maybe a nose piercing, maybe work a couple of odd jobs like at a gallery and a coffee shop, drive super old cars, always have great weed or know where to find it at a moments notice, like to garden and go hiking.
Please guide me.

Honestly, as a now-married woman who had tons of suitors---what do you bring to the table? Are you a quirky outdoorsy indie type too or are you looking for someone who will be the most interesting thing about you? A lot of guys who approached me were the second type, they're pretty easy to see through. Take inventory of yourself, though. Too many people look to complete themselves with other people instead of being happy with their own selves.
quirky - no. I'm not quirky nor do I try to be.
outdoorsy - yes. I climb, hike, bike, getting into birdwatching - I would love to move west but my job and career keeps me here.
Attempting to garden.
very into environmental issues, but usually that's by writing a check(though i do try to walk and cycle as much as possible and not use the AC unless absolutely necessary).
not into material things for the most part.
I don't think it is about being more interesting - i'm pretty happy with how I am, I just want to explore dating someone who isn't high strung, has a much more relaxed happy-go-lucky vibe, isn't a worrywart - i've met three women like this out west (one in santa cruz, one in santa fe, and one more in another small mountain west town) and I fell hard for them at different parts of my life so I think it seems i've always been into this type but since I grew up in the north east and my circles never crossed paths in a sustained way with enough frequency for me to find someone like that here.
I fully get that most women like this might not want anything to do with me. That's cool. But dating is a numbers game so if i don't actively put myself out there for these women, I won't ever know.
