Can I please get a clearer description? Possibly Hispanic to me sounds like the suspect is black, white, Asian or Hispanic. Any and all convicted criminals in that area need to give up some DNA. The suspect might also be un-employed or even possibly a student.
For all of you locals, read The Greater Olney News - Vol 2, No. 1 - 10/19/2016, page 5.
They knew each other.
from the article -
"The two knew each other, so it is not a stranger-based event," he said (Officer Rick Goodale). "We are working with the State's Attorney's Office to determine if charges are appropriate."
. . .
Police do not believe there is any threat to public safety in regard to the incident."
I called it early on and questioned the situation, but I was basically called a deplorable.
nice going, DCUM!
People can't question stories in the news, eh?
And I feel sorry for the girl - even if the act was consensual, as this can't be easy for her.

Dear Parents and Guardians:
This message is to inform you about an incident that happened in our community on Thursday, September 15, 2016. The Montgomery County Police Department has issued a press release indicating that an assault occurred in the Olney/Sandy Spring area http://www.mymcpnews.com/2016/09/16/detectives-investigate-rape-of-teenager-in-sandy-spring-area/ . The police are investigating the incident. Anyone with information about this assault is asked to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5400 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
The safety and security of our students is paramount. Please take this opportunity to remind your children of the importance of remaining alert, the procedures they are to follow when approached by strangers, and to report anything suspicious to you, a staff member, or the police. Additionally, review safety practices at home:
* When walking to/from school, never walk alone. Always walk with at least one friend; two or three is even better.
* If a stranger follows you on foot, get away from him or her as quickly as you can. You can run and yell, “HELP!”
* If a stranger offers you a ride, say “NO!” and stay far away from the car.
* Never leave school with a stranger.
* Tell a trusted adult if a stranger is lingering on school property.
As always, thank you for your cooperation and support.
Sincerely,
William M. Gregory, Principal
According to the link, the incident happened between 7 and 8 am yesterday! WTF?

The flimsy guise of concern for public safety doesn't hide your abject curiosity. Congratulations. You have validated victims' sense that they will be disbelieved and have their privacy violated if they report a sex crime.
If you actually cared about the safety of your community, you'd be trying to make it a place where victims feel safe reporting.
Y'all might not be Trump voters, but you're a basket of deplorables.

You are both crazy. Truly.
Nobody has asked who the victim is. And why would they?
Comments have been limited to info about the suspect and where the incident took place (details that are typically reported).
No victim blaming. Some isolated comments perhaps, but all I've really seen is frustration from locals who are on edge. Again: note the incident that happened at a middle school bus stop in Olney the other day (and details have yet to be released regarding the suspect or location). I can see why this might not be of interest to you if you live elsewhere, but locals with kids at Sherwood and Rosa want to have basic info about the suspects and locations.
Signed,
Bleeding heart liberal who lives in Olney (and who finds your comments relating this to Trump quite befuddling)
