Even with a "gotcha" question you can't be "gotten" unless you are ill-informed to begin with. He could have said "Aleppo in what respect?" or "are you referring to the humanitarian crisis in Aleppo?" or "are you talking about the condiment?" Etc. There are lots of responses he could have made other than "what is Aleppo?"

Well, I'm thankful that the Libertarians aren't ruling this country. So, if there is a humanitarian crisis the US shouldn't help. We should not be involved in NATO or the UN. We should build a wall around this country and stick our heads in the ground. Can you name me one successful country that has this kind of foreign policy, where they are not involved in the UN or provide humanitarian assistance?

Yes. The USA from 1789 to 1945.
Hint: "has" and "are" refer to the present tense.
The US was involved in WWI and WWII - 1914 and 1942.
The world was a much different place back then. There is no successful country today that has a complete isolationist policy. Some people are hell bent on taking us back to the 50's or before. No thanks. It was a terrible time for many women and minorities in this country.
