She doesn't look angry at all to me! Who knows how a person in her situation...travelling far from home, under the incredible pressure of the Olympics, taking everything in will react in any given moment. She didn't say or do anything wrong! Why is everyone being so hard on her for her facial expressions?! They looked tired and neutral at worst to me and happy and exctited most of the time. All four other girls on that team managed to cheer for each other, in spite of being under the same pressures as Gabby.
I didn't notcie anything wrong with Gabby...until Simone won gold. She didn't even clap for Simone.
THAT is what caught my eye and why I said earlier that she seemed off, like something was wrong or perhaps sour grals.
"Angry black woman" had zero to do with her behavior. All I saw was petulent teenager

...You need to relax. I never said she looks like an angry black woman. I never said angry or black; that's all on you. I, like hundreds of others - on here, on twitter, on all kinds of social media (Many of them were black people too!!) - said she looked bitter, disinterested, supportive, etc. Never once commented on her race or being "angry."

I wonder if all the people defending Gabby saw how she reacted to Simone's and Aly's wins in the all around. I think people are overreacting to her behavior on the podium. But the way she could barely clap for her teammates when they took the gold and silver made her look like a sore loser to me. I saw it live -- I don't think it's something that the media has been replaying. But if you had seen her half-hearted applause (at best), you might understand why people are being critical of Gabby.

I don't see race. At all. I see an incredibly talented athlete having a tantrum in front of the world while wearing "USA" on her chest.
How is this so different from Nancy Kerrigan going from sweetheart to spoiled sport in the public's mind after live mics caught her complaining about Oksana Baiul taking too long to put on makeup, and then calling Disney "corny" while riding in a parade?
It's the American way - build up the sports heroes, then tear them down. It doesn't matter what color they are.
