This is a preview of the MacArthur vs JR debate in a few years. The bottom line is clear. If there is decent buy in from in-boundary families, the school flips very quickly.

We chose a Hardy feeder over a Deal feeder. The benefits of a smaller, less chaotic environment far outweighed the slight differences in course selection or activities.

We’re still in wait and see mode for MacArthur, but there’s enough high school options in DC that will work for my kids.

thats funny and we are IB for mcfarland. it will take at least 15-20 years before solid cohort of high SES/high acheiving kids come from the feeder schools. Sure the area is gentrifying but so far high SES families are not sticking with he feeders past 1st grade for the most part.


This estimate feels accurate, too. Still a decade away for MacFarland, though it's maybe getting more and more appealing?


I think DCI pulls kids in that area to feeders which might effect the upward trajectory.


100%. Our former bilingual MacFarland loses a lot of kids to DCI feeders in fourth and fifth grades. And those are the families that didn’t choose a DCI feeder over their IB in ECE.

Agree and if you want small, with dedicated teachers and a dynamic invested principal MacArthur hands down.
