Whitney's voice is what made that song so beautiful. She performed it well. But the song itself (the lyrics), meh.
Most of Taylor's songs by comparison tell a story. There is more to the actual words.
SO off topic, but you need to know- like many great songs, Dolly Parton actually wrote it and many years later let Whitney record it. Two totally different versions but in Dollys you can feel the emotion and understand the lyrics better. If you quickly got tired of Whitney's ponderous version, give Dollys a listen. You'll gain a new appreciation. Bonus points if you watch the movie from whence it came- best little Whorehouse in Texas, if only for the semi nude all men's locker room performance.
Where the hell did all the great movies go? REVERIE.

The Katy Perry thing was cruel-- essentially forming a team of influential pop celebs to create a video ripping her down. Typical mean-girl behavior ganging up on one person like that. After the TS Nikki Minaj feud when Nikki complained about not being nominated for an award and Taylor tried to call her out about "ripping down other women", Katy called Taylor out since she totally ripped Katy down. Camilla Belle, another TS victim, agreed. Taylor is a bully and a nut.
The Tom Hiddleston thing reeks of the same drama she created around the Schwarzenegger/ Harry Styles episode, bouncing around from one guy to the next.
Fake.

But after you listen to her for awhile - especially on live recordings - you realize that she really can't sing.
A lot of pop stars can't really sing, though, so I tried to get past that. But the Red album, with those horrible dirge-like duets, I could only listen to half the album. And then her transition into, what exactly is she trying to be now? Sexy? Yet still a "good girl"? It's hard to figure out. I would actually respect her more if she just owned it like Avril or Miley.

Her songs are catchy, and she is not sleeping with married men. I think she does a good job of being an independent woman, and not clinging on to a man if he not worthy of her. I like that she is not a victim. I love the fact that she turns heartache into successful songs and makes money out of it. She is stunningly beautiful, with an amazing model worthy figure and has a wonderful life of a normal single 20 something woman.
She is allowed to date men, and she is allowed to dump them if they are not up to the mark. Why the double standards?
She is not doing drugs, not in abusive relationships, not smoking, not getting pregnant, not making sex tapes, not sexting, not getting her nude pictures hacked from the cloud. I think as far as celebrities are concerned, she is doing great.
Yes - she is all of this and then some. I love that she's succeeding so nicely and I hope that she continues to succeed. But she needs to learn to let some things go.
So what if Calvin Harris made some stupid snarky comment? The only reason anyone even knows about that dumb comment is because Taylor reacted to it. Let it go Taylor.
She wrote the song to help Calvin Harris, who she was in a serious relationship with. She was probably aware that she was a bigger success than he, and because she wanted a future with him, she was trying to discreetly help his future by writing and composing the music of a hit single, so that he is successful too - incase, the disparity in their respective success was preventing CH from proposing. She probably DID want Rhianna to sing it because she did not want people to say that Calvin Harris was finding success on the back of Taylor Swift.
Her reason for reacting negatively to CH is because he had no intention of having a future with TS. He knew he was not serious about her, he knew that she was helping him because of her vision of their joint future, and he still used her. He is a user and a loser. She is now with Tom and he has a huge fan following amongst the younger crowd. Go Taylor!
Um, his net worth might be less than hers, but he already is successfully and has earned over $100 million.

I think my girl is crazy AF!!
