I agree with the critics. It is a disgrace that the BBC world America has someone whom most north american cannot understand. While looks should not count (I mean, look at the ugly men) speech is most important on the radio or TV. Why don't they have a reporter from Ireland or Scotland. You guessed right. What ever happened to Katie. Perfect speech!!!
She ( or the BBC) also is always blaming Syria using chlorine gas when it is the international community who did not outlaw the use of this gas. BBC should get the behind this issue, and have it outlawed. So no wonder it's being used , since it's not illegal by international law.

How soothing to my ears! Jane is our reporter this evening! I'm beginning to wonder if Laujavascript:void(0);ra is kept on because her spouse is President of ABC news network?

I've not heard her for some time, and my first reaction to hearing her tonight was 'what on earth has happened to her voice?'

I came across this while googling to see if she's had some sort of accident or health condition - but the oddly-accented Laura T of these days sounds (at least to my ears) rather different to the reporter of a few years ago, and I do wonder if something more serious than ill-judged attempt to change the tone/timbre of her voice has happened and just not been well-reported.

My wife and I cannot stand to listen to Laura Trevelyan. Her accent is so grating she etches the glass in our TV screen. I am English by birth and think she desperately unpleasant to listen to. We turn it off when she is the newscaster. Ms OBrien is so much more enjoyable to listen to. Please BBC dump Laura or give her elocution lessons.

Please get rid of Laura Trevelyan,
especially since you have the perfect
options of either Jane O’Brien or Katy
Kay.
Laura Trevelyan’s voice is more irritating
than cat’s screeching.

So reassuring to hear I'm not alone in my opinion of Ms. Trevelyan's Voice Quality. I generally refer to her as "Gagging Crow". What's wrong with BBC America to let this continue?

Whatever happened to the famed "Received Pronunciation"? Our pet beef is LT's mention ( often ) of the Whyhouse - elocution lessons needed - Please - BBC can do better !!!

Laura Trevelyan's accent is a work of art sometimes betrayed by instinct. She attempts to blend with approved BBC-speak. Most of the time she does it very well [if that is the word for such a pollution}. But at times of excitement she forgets herself and lapses not the tones natural to one of her very patrician lineage. Americans usually love such accents. It was certainly a blow to UK listeners when she relocated to the USA.

I appreciate Ms. Trevelyan's skills. However, it is not her accent that is an issue, it's the nasal sounding shrill of her voice that grates my ears.

BBC has sunk pretty low, from the lovely plummy accent of Angela Rippon years ago, to the irritating nasal screech of Laura Trevelyan today. PLEASE get rid of her!

Yes, I agree with most of these jerks coming on so strongly about Laura's accent. It is irritating. But listen people, she has an air of modesty about her; she is a great, pointed interviewer unlike Catty Kay's arrogant lecturing the interviewees with an air of know-it-all. Catty is indeed a great announcer but I hate her guts. And where has she been hiding for so long doing her 100+ days of something? Anyway, the point is this: These TV women and men have their own strengths and weaknesses, like all of us humans. An outright condemnation of Laura T because of her unfamiliar (to us Americans) accent is highly unfair. Furthermore, this may sound sexist, as perhaps it is, I find her very attractive and sexy. Good luck, Laura T

Wow, so many entries already! Thought I was the only one having extreme hearing problems.
How. about this: for every problem there is a technical solution, right? This is begging for one.
Because our home TV system sound adjustments are too primitive to compensate, surely the
engineers out there in the sophisticated studios can adjust to compensate?

The BBC obviously couldn't care less about their viewers complaints over this lady's voice.Do they even attempt to qualify the television voices of their commentators !? Demonstrates their far left arrogance .

Surely she could do a fantastic job doing something else. She sounds awful.
