Yep. Hillsborough was founded as a haven for the rich limousine liberals who wanted the benefits of SF without the "undesirables" right in their backyard.

I used to live right around there a few years ago. *Many* of those in Silicon Valley, SF, Peninsula aren't long time residents. Most are transplants. So, if the area is out of touch, then it's the out of towners that are bringing it to that area.

The PP who stated that the young people who have only worked at those high tech companies with lots of perks are definitely out of touch is correct. I've worked in those companies for over 10 yrs, but I'm in my late 40's, and I've worked at non high tech companies in other parts of the country, too. Those people are definitely clueless regarding how life really is for majority of the people in this country.

But, the older ones like myself aren't clueless about the col and the realities of life.

I find those who grew up and still live in the DC area are a bit out of touch, too.

Someone I know from NYC told me that many in NYC feel that the world revolves around NYC.

I don't which area wins overall.

I lived in SF and DC. I say SF residents are a thousand times more spoiled and entitled. As someone else said, even the homeless people have high standards.

Too true. This is why you never catch a native Colorado resident at Aspen. To them Aspen isn't even in Colorado.

I lived in SF, totally believe this. Thanks for the laugh this morning.

My vote goes for Silicon Valley. While there are a lot of regular people there just trying to get by, the people with tech money and inflated egos can be disgustingly entitled.


there was an op ed written a while ago by this tech guy in SF who said he and his date (or was it his mom?) were "accosted" by a homeless person. He felt he shouldn't have to be bothered by such people since he was paying a premium to live in SF.

So, yea, I would say that he is the epitome of entitlement in that area. I'm from that area, btw. There are still a lot of "normal" people there just trying to get by. But more and more, this type of person is becoming the norm in that area - 20 something people whose first job is at a tech company that has all kinds of perks, and don't know what it's like for the majority of working people who work for "normal" companies without such perks. I work for these types of tech companies, but I'm old, and I worked for normal companies before the tech world exploded. I see the entitlement difference at work, too.
