Yes, very definitely a cut through, a Wisconsin bypass. And it will only get worse with AU Law school fully operational and with the GDS project.

You know you can paint cabinets, right? No one at this price range buys a new house without bringing in a decorator before making an offer to make sure it can be customized to their tastes


we're in this price range and have not once brought a decorator before making an offer. i don't think it's common to bring a decorator to a house before you bid on it at any price range.

it's on a cut-through street. many people use 42nd st, to avoid Wisconsin Ave. It's not too bad because the speed limit is low, but a lot of people drive by every day.

IDK, but the amenities "metro" serves as a euphemism for: shopping, dining, etc., probably a whole lot, especially since it saves them on time, which they bill at, IDK, $600/ hour?

Am confused about the responses that the house is small and in a busy area, though.

3K sq feet and 6 bedrooms is three times as much as my family lives in.

And it's not on a main street. Also don't understand why you *wouldn't* want to live on a main street, though -- I much prefer a busy populated street near transit.

Well, no complaints from me as a homeowner in the hood, but yea wow. Good luck getting your money back out of that one...

In fairness the house was huge - 3,000 Sqft almost certainly understates it, but the living room and sunroom were kind of dead space: you'd just live in the addition part. Still, the house had all the trimmings of feeling like a more grandiose place and could easily have been mistaken for being in SV.

And here I was thinking $1.7 was high when that set the record.
