My kid shushed a sideline coaching dad. (My son was on the field, ran by and put his finger to his mouth and shushed him.

It was awesome.

Dad didn't speak to me for a year. It was awesome.

as i said in OP, i saw the other sub goalie's dad did it and thought that's a good idea so i did too. neither of us murdered anybody. and i'll bet my lunch money nobody 'hated' either of us.

I actually am parent to kids too young for organized sports, so you're wrong there. I do remember growing up playing sports and most parents were really good, but there was one dad who would continually coach and the other kids hated it, the child herself felt humiliated, the coach was incredibly annoyed and finally had the dad red carded one game. Not even sure that was possible. Poor girl. It truly does nothing for them.

As one PP said, a good coach will remain mostly silent and a good parent will only occasionally yell "good job!"

You asked a question, 6 pages later you have been told that you don't coach from the sideline or from behind the goal and you have rationalized why you did it. That is a form of defending your actions. After six pages of basically being told you behaved like a tool I'm surprised you have come back at all.

Seriously, our rec coach is a million times better than my other kid's travel coach.

The travel kid has a micromanaging screamer during games that does not let players figure things out for themselves...add in the sideline coaching from the dads and my head is about to explode.


What club is that? Some clubs have no real identity or organization.
