I think it depends on the school and, likely, the teacher. I have 2 kids who went to a center (no local level IV) and had very little homework. I think you need to talk to parents at your specific base school and center, as things vary from school to school.

My two kids who attended a Center school had very little homework. I also found it is very teacher dependent.

I think the teacher way way back is probably frustrated by parents who push their kids into AAP centers and lots of additional homework for years for what result? Nothing, as far as he/she can tell. So teachers see kids who are stressed in elementary needlessly because the parents are determined to "take advantage of a great FCPS program" even if it isn't the best idea for their kid. Sometimes (not always) teachers see things that parents don't and it makes them sad and irritable. FWIW. I run a preschool and you would absolutely NOT believe what percentage of parents tell us how incredibly advanced their kids are and how they need additional attention to meet their academic needs. Guess how many kids are actually advanced beyond their peers? maybe 1 in 10 of those who tell us their kids are. It's a joke to us. A sad, sad state of affairs.

It was the AAP, and it was unsolicited. I know at our school she let people know who were admitted, as I know of two others. I'm not sure if she also notified people who were not admitted.
