Does anyone know if Visitation has hired a Varsity assistant coach or any JV coaches? I've checked the website and can't find anything. We're looking into the school for our daughter.

We all got an email announcing PRIDE's Katie McMahon as the new head coach. Wonder why it took them so long to announce it. Wonder if she'll still run PRIDE while also coaching Visi.

Yup - she landed at SSSAS and have to tell you, parents and players are absolutely thrilled to have her! Looking forward to another great Varsity and JV season. Visi's loss is our gain. To all those at Visi who were sorry to see her go, we will do our best to make sure she feels supported and welcome.

. Does anyone know if they recruit for field hockey? I believe one or two of their players were.

The head coach did not quit. She was let go by the AD. A handful of parents complained and put incredible pressure on the administration to fire the coach because their daughters either did not start or did not get enough playing time. And the administration caved. The problem is that 2 of the other 4 coaches resigned because of severe parental involvement and the remaining 2 resigned for personal reasons. So Visitation currently has no lacrosse coaches. Actually, I take that back. My daughter has received several emails from "Coach Zeff" so it looks like the AD may be stepping into the role. I know concerned parents have approached potential coaches, asking them to apply for the head coach position, but no one is interested because of the constant, inappropriate intervention of parents in the program. And for what it's worth, I heard that SSSA, Holton and Stone Ridge have all offered jobs to the Varsity coaches who were let go.

PP's "reasons" behind the dismissal is incredibly misinformed, yet I have heard virtually the same "reasons" from multiple parents -- mostly younger Capital Lacrosse Club families or Alexandria families. Not hard to guess as to where the "reasons" are originating.

High school coaching is not usually a FT job. Many coaches are teachers or have jobs outside the school.

Hi,
When did you hear this? There was no announcement... Could be true, but nothing has been announced.

Katie McMahon has a great reputation in girls' lacrosse circles. She is highly regarded for both her coaching ability and her basic kindness and decency. Considering Visi's track record (by both parents and the admin) of treatment of lacrosse coaches in recent years, I really hope Katie is not going to be their new coach. I would hate to see someone of her caliber forced to bend to the whim and will of parents whom the Visi admin seems incapable of restraining. Visi's lacrosse program will continue to struggle until the school reigns in the parents.

why has Visitation had 3 different lacrosse coaches in 7 years.

Either the AD and administration is incompetent or the parents are crazy and driving a coach to move on every 2 seasons.

Regardless, its not a good situation to have.

This is not true. McMahon is not the new lacrosse coach at Visitation. She has a full time job at a tech company.

I am the PP who wrote the posting about the banishment because I am made that the lacrosse threads were redirected to the Sports and Fitness threads because they are dealing with independent school sports teams. I think it was misguided, mean spirited and patronizing-- JEFF... Parents want to know about what is happening in their child's school sport. We are intelligent enough to ignore the neurotic, obnoxious parents. It is a real disservice to parents who are seeking information.

I agree with you 100%. I am upset as well that is was moved to the Sports and Fitness.

Go out and do some volunteer work and re-adjust your priorities.

I actually read this stuff to help me between my volunteer duties. Love to volunteer but one does need some down time while helping others
