Let me tell you a few things. Bernie's plans means your taxes will go up. I know you think you are middle class, but in fact, you will be considered pretty rich and will pay accordingly. It's still not clear HOW he intends to implement and pay for any of his proposals, including his proposed healthcare overhaul (which is ridiculous considering the shitshow that the very middle of the road Obamacare caused). It is also pretty unclear to me what exactly he has accomplished in his very lengthy political career, and how he was able to use compromise and work across the isle to get things accomplished (spoiler alert: you need compromise if you want this country to work, as we have been well aware in the past 8 years). His gun and immigration policies are dismal, and as a senator from a very vanilla state, he has no idea how to represent the diverse make up of the entire US. Just a few things to mull over.

Hillary is by no means perfect. But, she has been fighting this fight for years, beginning with her projects as First Lady. She knows the ins and outs of Capitol Hill, and yes, she may have even been shady in those dealings at times, but guess what? That's how shit gets done. Furthermore, she is far, far, FAR more qualified in terms of foreign policy, and that is pretty damn important right now. Maybe this is me being a pragmatic, but she is the only one who can beat a Republican and the only moderate in the current presidential race.

Bs is right: If you wa t to slow the economic slide we've experienced since 1970, vote Hillary. If you want to reverse ut, vote Bernie. Period.

Not a Bernie Bro. An somewhat upper middle class professional white woman with two kids, who's travelled the world. We live in a nice house in a nice neighborhood. Taxes don't scare me. I want a better life for you, me, my kids, your kids, and especially the little kids in the shitty schools and neighborhoods a few mikes from me. Tax our corporations, mega wealthy, and get money out of politics. Tax me too. Cheaper than the thousands we give to charity to do what we could be preventing and doing more efficiently. I can do math. It's my job. It makes sense.

Are you dense?

Me, too. We make $240,000 and I'm sure our taxes will go up. OK. First, it's the right thing to do. Second, when quality of life goes up for lower income and lower-middle class people, "everyone" benefits. Less crime. Less health care costs. Less time missed from work. Healthier, happier people. It won't be nirvana, but it will be much better.

You all are missing out the point. Raising the minimum wage will do nothing to account for what is the root cause of poverty: discrimination.

How does that explain whites who live in poverty?

It doesn't.

PP only has one lens, and it's distorted.

My lens is backed up by numbers. Maybe you should research a bit too.

http://money.cnn.com/2014/08/21/news/economy/black-white-inequality/

Wrong. Nothing in your link denies the very real fact that there are whites living in poverty too. Is there anything that you don't think has to do with race?

Are you dense?

Yes, there are whites living in poverty. But the fact of the matter is that there are far more AA in that situation, and maybe, just maybe, that has to do with race, PP.

Different poster here. Discrimination has a lot to do with it, for sure. That's been proven in many ways. But I still don't think that's a reason to NOT try to correct income inequality through various policy measures. We still have to work on discrimination, and to a certain extent we are (as policy makers).

Then by all means, how does Bernie's plan address the numbers in the link above?

The problem is, nothing in Bernie's plan is realistic. I have repeatedly asked for specifics from Bernie supporters and I have gotten none.

That healthcare plan was the tipping point. Journalists are starting to fully analyze and report on it and many of them are clearly surprised and dismayed by it. A single-payer plan with no copays or deductibles is more extreme than anything in any nation I know of. Sanders has introduced nine different single-payer bills during his time in Congress. It's appalling that he can't come up with something better than this.

This is the tipping point for Sanders in terms of media coverage.

He can't do it because there's a little thing called Congress standing in the way.

+1. These things are nice ideas, but there's no realistic chance of getting them passed the way Sanders has proposed. Someone previous criticized Clinton essentially for proposing change that is too incremental (e.g., improving the health care system we have rather than implementing a universal health care system), but the reality is the Dems best chance of getting things done in the next 4-8 years if they win the presidency. I'll take someone who understands political reality any day. For years under W. the Democrats "thought big" and took big, principled stands on things, and the Republicans out-smarted them every step because the Republicans were pragmatic. Now that the Democrats have become more pragmatic as well, they've had better results .

Absolutely, I agree. It's so easy for Bernie to say these things, but, there is absolutely no way he can get ANY of it done. Even HRC will have a hard time getting things accomplished bc Congress is so vitriolic. Somehow Bernie, a "socialist" will be able to pass his legislation? The idea is ridiculous. Anyhow, he is get creamed in a general election if he does become the nominee. I am surprised how many supporters he has on DCUM.

Polling shows the opposite, that he will "cream" many GOP opponents if he were the Dem nominee. Also, as for Congress, we need to see Congress for its vitriol and obstructionism, expose it and show the American people that they are voting assholes into office. That needs to end. We need Congress to be representative of the people, not the banks, the oil companies, the gun lobbies and other special interests who are all derailing this nation.

The debate and Hillary's views affirmed for me why I can never bring myself to vote for her. I support Bernie S and if he is not the nominee then I will just take a pass.

Hillary C, is just disingenuous and self-serving and just cannot be trusted. She has the audacity to criticize Sanders for his issues with Obama even as she went around eviscerating Obama in 2008 when she was running against him. She and Bill C, played the race card against him in South Carolina because when it comes to winning then anything goes whether it is Obama or Sanders or anyone else. I was disappointed that Sanders did not point this out to her.

Hillary C is owned by Wall Street despite her protestations. Is it any wonder that most Americans distrust her?

Great. I am still waiting for someone to explain to me exactly how Bernie's plans will be implemented and funded. I can't seem to find that info.

He told you. He is going to tax the wealthy at an extremely high rate. He is going to tax the people with money off shore (that's really going to help bring business to our shores!). He is going to tax the middle class--but you will be happy because you won't have to pay insurance premiums.

Problem is, that still won't be enough to fund what he is promising.

As Maggie said about socialism: "What happens when you run out of other people's money?"

What is the the tax rate/brackets? How does he envision implementing single payer health care? Does he have the votes to accomplish this? How is this general plan benefiting me, as a middle class citizen, aside from healthcare? What impact is this going to have on the economy? How will this affect international commerce treaties? How will this impact the budget?

Well, he finally put out his healthcare plan about 2 hours before the debate and now I see why he put it off for so long. Ezra Klein at Vox had been criticizing the Clinton critiques of it, but once he read it he changed his tune. He has a very thorough dissection of it up now. Vague, unrealistic and irresponsible are three words he used to describe it. "Puppies and rainbows" was the takeaway phrase for me.

Then there was the post-debate spin room, where Bernie was represented by Killer Mike. When asked how he came to support Bernie, he said it was throuh "smoking a joint and reading his tweets."

Have you looked at what he has accomplished during his tenure on the Senate floor? The dude freaking walks around the floor with an old sandwich in one pocket and a banana hanging out of the other!!!

FOr Christ sake, I wish Liberals actually LOOKED at their candidate with an open mind, Did some research instead of absorbing what the liberal media spoon feeds your lemming mind!

You are a tool. A completely useless one at that.
