Is everyone familiar with the concept of a "party girl?" I feel like the idea is the same with APs. There's a list of qualities I like in a lover, and a much longer list of qualities I need in a life partner. Women jump on each other when a woman is with a guy for a superficial sex and fun relationship, but guys get a pass. Fuck that. I'm for gender equality.

Which study is bogus?

Esther Perel believes that people cheat because they are broken inside, not because their marriage is broken. I agree with her, it is not very different from what Shirley Glass says in her book.

This is a wrong assumption... You have NO idea if the wife has or has not done anything wrong. You have no idea how she treats her husband, if she is cold and abusive, if she lies, overspends, if they were separated... NO IDEA under what circumstances the cheating occurred and while I do understand that cheating is never okay - the behaviors that LEAD UP TO the affair/cheating are usually equally the fault of BOTH the wife and the husband.

Don't neglect one another and don't assume it won't happen just because you took a vow. YOU are still responsible for maintaining your marriage and if you are treating your husband like shit he is going to end up cheating.


No one is saying that OP's marriage is a happy one, just that the OW is an outsider to that marriage. It is what it is.

She is an outsider to the marriage but to say she's miserable or will grow old with cats is silly. For the OP to imagine herself in an enviable position because she is married to the cheater is sad.
