I just didn't think differences like that could work. Am I wrong?
"Blue collar" men often make more than the white collar. So some people are laughing all the way to the bank that they don't have college and grad school loans to pay.

No way those pissy white collars guys who sit in a cube all day are better than me. Most of those needy Lexus driving know-it-alls couldn't fix a flat tire if their family's life depended on it.
So go ahead ladies, marry that effete desk jockey you are so attracted to and leave defending the country and fixing the kitchen sink to real men like me.
We are perfectly happy to use you as cannon fodder and let you plumb our toilets. Glad you are happy too.

"There are no blue collar men, only blue collar jobs." - a quote from my dad, a line cook who put 3 kids through college, and we are now a doctor, a lawyer, and university professor.

Some white-collar guys seem so helpless when they have no practical skills. So I've dated cops, firemen, military, contractors, electricians, etc.

My friend fell in love with her janitor boyfriend and they married. After they married he told her he OWNED the buildings he cleaned.
Twenty eight years on, they are still married and he still cleans his own buildings. Nothing about him says money. He's fun to be around.

If you can laugh at your ILs, you are truly blessed!

Sorry, but plenty of UMC and even higher have terrible tempers. I'm not saying it is elegant, but it is prevalent. Enjoy your quiet bubble.

Anonymous wrote:I'm UC girl married to a MC guy. My father is an Ambassador and I grew up in a bubble of the glamorous elite. I met my DH at a prestigious DC think tank and because he had received a very good quality education, I did not relaize my DH's middle class roots until I met his family. His parents are cute but very LM/MC. It's not really a problem except I don't really have much in common with them.
My DH is a curious mix of traits from both classes. He loves his Wild Turkey and white bred but enjoys reading history books for fun. He also entertains my tastes and takes me to the opera and the theater often.
I like that he has MC work ethic but UC tastes.
