Another list that is almost completely charter. We got into a DCPS OOB pre-common lottery but are DCPS's that hard to get into these days? There are a ton with much more convenient (to downtown) locations than LAMB, CMI, etc. Is it just that they market better?

Yeah but at the PK3/PK4 level, isn't a game of would you rather? Would you rather endure a hellish commute for a year and try to lottery again the following year, or pay $20,000-25,000 on daycare?

You don't say where you live, but please make sure to do some test drives for these schools. The commute could be a nightmare. Also, what grade is this for? If it's PK3/4 you might want to stick an Appletree towards the bottom as a safety. There's no chance getting in OOB at some of these schools for ECE.
We live in Capitol Hill, this is for PK3.

Seriously, you get into a school and then email the other parents about setting up carpools. EVERYONE wants to. It's not hard.
How do you manage to blow your own noses without help?

If it takes you an hour to go two miles like PP insists then you have to leave before 8 if school starts at 845.
If it takes you an hour to go two miles, you should walk.
