I guess it could be anything. Sailing is a strong possibility, but it just doesn't seem to be that dangerous. Skiing also comes to mind, but, I don't really see how she could get left behind skiing.

After reading through the thread, I am not convinced I'd want to hang out with OP either. Maybe her in-laws aren't as bad as described.

Why, is there some referendum on whether you would like to hang out with her? What does that have to do with the thread.

It doesn't even sound like she gives a damn whether or not the in laws hang out with her, it doesn't sound like they are close.

Except that the whole point of this thread is that OP feels excluded and doesn't like that the in-laws invite her kids and not her. She's not opposed to having her kids involved in the activity, she just doesn't want her kids doing it with the in-laws without her.

It was more complex than that. You clearly don't have children.

If you are concerned about danger, don't let your kids go. If that's not really the issue, I'd try to rise above it and let them go with their grandparents sometimes if you think they will enjoy the activity. You can do it sometimes with your kids on your own as well, if you have "access" to whatever you need to do it.

This has been my experience as well sailing the Caribbean and the Chesapeake. Disappointing. A lot of sexually frustrated sailors trying to make up for their dinghies.

Discuss with DH. Make sure you are both on the same page. Send him in front of the firing squad.

It's really hard to understand what op is talking about. Honestly, I don't even think not naming the hobby is the biggest issue. The whole thing is just too vague to understand properly.

I think it is skiing. She is not rich but she grew up somewhere mountainous where everyone learned. For her it was healthy outdoorv fun, not some chi chi Aspen beautiful people lifestyle thing. She skis fine but they do not like her form and are embarrassed by her. They do not invite her to Switzerland. It cannot wait to enroll he kids in ski school.

I was very disappointed to open this thread. . . . I thought "lifestle 'hobby'" meant open marriage with swinging!
