Is this a joke? GMU rivaling UVa? And you shouldn't even put GMU and Stanford in the same sentence. GMU is locally popular and people always like to think their local school is great, but outside of NoVa no one has even heard of GMU. In fact, some haven't heard of UVa.

Just because someone writes an article where they rank GMU higher doesn't mean it is. There are a million ways to rank schools, and you can always finding some ranking some year that puts a school higher than an Ivy. Doesn't make it true.

Hahaha! Good one OP. Any student who can get into Stanford is not applying to GMU. GMU is for nice middle class average dummies. Nothing wrong with it if you want to stay in VA. But stay there you must.

Stanford, as in Palo Alto? Or Stamford as in, we're almost Stanford?

It makes a difference, but either way, GMU is not even in the discussion.

Never heard the term public ivy?

I heard of Public Ivy and V+UVA is highly overrated in Virginia.

And everyone outside of this area thinks that UVA is just another state flagship like U of Ohio or U of Kansas.
Grew up in Chicago where UVA was considered a public Ivy. It is not put in the same category as the big state schools.

There is no University of Ohio.

OP's entire series of "GMU or ... " posts are simply hysterical, and well worth a complete read. OP, now that the VA state budget has secured the position of NoVa Community College as being less expensive than Balliol College at Oxford, should we expect to see the other Oxford colleges exert an effort to compete?
