I DVRed the new frontline series my brother's bomber - not sure if this will count, but I was in college during the Lockerbie bombings and had friends studying abroad, coming home for Christmas. It was terrifying to think how random it was, so curious to see how this research plays out.

I had to study Errol Morris in a college film class and Fast Cheap and Out of Control still stands up for me as touching and well done.

I also like Between The Folds, a doc about paper folders. The young guy from MIT is so purely passionate about his work and I find it moving. The more I watch it the more I am struck with raw emotion. About math. And paper. But really, it's about people.

Neither of these are sexy, but they are quality. Obviously, I'm an educator.

The Gift, a 2003 documentary about gay men actively trying to get HIV to fit in.

Ghengis Blues -- one of the best music documentaries about Paul Pena, who was an amazing man. Starts a little slow but quickly sucks you in.

It's those long shots of him halfway between the two towers that freaks me out. Even the reenactment gives me chills. I hate heights. This was a DH choice to watch, not mine.

+1 Vice frequently brings me to tears. The prison one was very sad but well done. I also found the North Korea episode fascinating.

Same here. Sometimes it's very difficult to watch but I like that it's hard hitting and they show the reality.

The North Korea ones almost come off as comedy if you don't remember that there are millions of people starving to death in labor camps. It's so incredibly surreal and fake- just absurd. Like it's hard to imagine that world exists in real life.

I love the HBO vice series- I just can't understand how the content on Vice online that comes up on my facebook feed is such total trash compared to what they are doing with that series- its shocking they are even the same publication.

PBS just had a good one on Walt Disney. It mainly kept it confined to former employees, not stars of his movies.

Boy, did he work his ass off and came close to bankruptcy a number of times. I had known that he appeared before the House Committee on UnAmerican Activities, but wasn't aware of his battles with organized labor.

I really loved this documentary. My father loved boxing, and I was a kid in the 70s who idolized Muhamed Ali. You forget how mesmerizing he was, how dynamic, how likable. Parkinson's is a terrible disease - and while this film does not explore the devastating consequences of so many blows to the head, it is hard not to watch it without thinking of the damages Ali sustained.
