Frankly, I would rather have trailers on some of the garden space --over 32 kids in one class.

I just don't understand why parents are ok with the class size arrangement, even if 2 teachers, but that is their choice and their business.

Well when you show up at your neighborhood public school on day one and find 32 kids in the class, what exactly are you supposed to do, homeschool?
is this that surprising though? DCPS does projections, they seem to be at fault.

When oyster outgrew its newly renovated bldg, parents found a building to expand. Perhaps Janney takes over tenley library. Library relocates elsewhere or that neighborhood uses chevy chase library.

Um, DCPS cannot just take over a public neighborhood library.

What is the fire code limit on number of kids in a room? Anyone know? There must be some outer limit to this.

Anonymous wrote:Why exactly is finding out that an injury occurred in a classroom with arguably too many kids relegated to "gossip"?

Because there's no reason at all to assume that the injury occurred because there are too many kids in the class. My kid had her hair ripped from her scalp in a class with 2 teachers and 15 students.

Anonymous wrote:The janney parents were the most vocal in fighting the boundary change so this is what they get. Super crowded classes. I still want to know how a kid gets shoved so hard into a cubby in the middle of the day that it causes a concussion but no one seems to know anything about it. Where the eff are the teachers when this kind of roughhousing is going on.

These kids are 8 or 9 years old? And this happens during class with two teachers? How very disturbing!

I had 32-33 in a MCPS "W" elementary pyramid back in the '70's

I remember it ONLY because of all the droning on about it by the teacher.

If there were a pattern of children being injured in these larger classes - maybe worth a public debate.

But so far it is an isolated incident and no one here has any clue how it happened and whether it is something that could have been prevented.

Yet here we are debating boundary revisions, trailers and more. SMH.
