He asked them for advice and they picked out an amazing new teenage wardrobe for me then they came over the next day for a few hours to teach me how to do my hair and makeup. Talk about the coolest gift ever!
Worst: My most recent ex had told his family I'd be spending the holidays with them. His dad and step-mom went all out. They had a stocking with my name on it when I showed up, and presents under all three of their Christmas trees for me. Talk about making a girl feel loved and welcomed. His mother, on the other hand, harbored a very deep-seated hatred for me even though this was our first time meeting and my ex and I hadn't even had so much as a disagreement in the time we'd been together. For Christmas dinner, she made a meal where I was allergic to every single thing on the table. My gift? A card asking me to leave her son alone with printed out directions to my place from her home - clearly wanting me to leave right then. Which I did.
Is he still living in her basement?
I wish! At least that would have been a reason behind her behavior. She was just mean for the sake of being mean. When I told my own parents, my mom warned me to get out immediately, as I would never be able to live with a MIL like her if things ever got that far. I ignored her. Then, a few months later, when my ex's mom went out to Cali to visit him and a company I rep wouldn't give her a free Audi to drive while she was in town (I paid and rented another car for her) she insisted it was because I hated her and set him up on a date with someone else. She's just a heinous bitch and will be the reason he never has a successful relationship.

Worst birthday gift was the Caboodle make up case I got (age 13) from my parents as a Christmas gift in the "wrong" color/size returned/re-purchased re-wrapped for my birthday. The replacement had a broken mirror. My mom was so frustrated, she returned the damn thing, got her money back and...I never did own a Caboodle, damn it!

For my birthday, they gifted me a "Groupon" for a hair service. Well it put me in an awkward position because once the salon found out I had a Groupon, they instantly became less welcoming to me and then kept me waiting longer than I should have.
OMG that is like TOTALLY embarrassing. Did you DIE or what?

Haha, that's great!

Why is that not thoughtful? You wanted it, you registered for it, they got it for you.
Yes, I also want to know why this gift wasn't thoughtful.
Just because they are multi-millionaires, it doesn't mean they have to buy everything single item off the registry for you. Or the most expensive item.
