Don't want to out my daughter, but OP here and thanks to everyone for all of your help! We chose a small private with progressive leanings and we hired a PT aide to help our girl manage the lunch/recess time, to avoid the being jostled problem. She broke a wrist this past fall at school which wasn't fun for anybody but overall she's having a good experience.

where did you end up?

Two public schools in MoCo have programs for kids with physical disabilities. Forest Knolls in Silver Spring and Judith Resnick in Gaithersburg. Neither school has any stairs, wider hallways and at least in Forest Knolls, they have reduced number of students per classroom for k-2 being a MD focus school. It may be the same at Judith Resnick, not sure.

Montgomery county schools or a place like Lowell or Waldorf maybe?

Acton is almost completely online. It's like homeschooling, except you are paying $10,000 a year for it.

If interested in public, maybe take a look at Rock Creek Valley in MOntgomery County. The neighborhood is in your price range and it's a great, small school. K-2 classes are small (less than 15 or 28) and there's a deaf/hard of hearing program on site, so they are used to accommodating kids with various disabilities.

Nysmith is on one floor, with wide corridors, large rooms with plenty of room to move around, lots of "stations," etc. There is a small student/teacher ratio, and lots of individual attention.

In that area, there are also excellent public schools for your other daughter (and your younger daughter if you choose to move to public).
~ For ES, some of the great schools are Floris, Oak Hill, Lees Corner, Waples Mill, Navy, Greenbriar West, and a few others.
~ For MS, Franklin, Rocky Run, and Carson are fantastic.
~ For HS, Chantilly and Oakton are both very good, and Westfield is also good.

Have you narrowed down your choices? Curious since we will be making the search for kindergarten next year with a similarly situated kid? Appreciate your feedback.

I'd also consider homeschooling.

Acton is very conservative in philosophy...my guess not the right fit!

One thing to ask about is boy/girl ratio. Green Acres had 16 boys and 2 girls in K this year

Grace has a fully stocked science lab/classroom, music room, Spanish three times a week, a reading teacher that meets with each student individually or in a very small group every week (no surprises about how your child is progressing), word wall words customized to your child's progress and not the same for the whole class, daily morning meeting, teachers that know every kid, sports teams, musical, math teacher, etc. PE three times a week, recess twice a day, play time still in kindergarten, and the list goes on.....
