Ugh, I was going to comment as well on the Britt thing. That short clip at end of last episode was again so stupid/silly. Whatever relationship she had with that guy (Brady?) comes across as contrived and immature, and both have irritating feathery/fake dreamy ways of speaking. Britt seems to have devolved; at least while on the show, she was coming across as more normal. Now it's this bizarre, pre-teen (or something juvenile) airy speech and thinking. Ah well, it is comic relief at some level, I guess.

Regarding the correct spelling of Shawn's name, it's a pet peeve. Someone (or multiple posters) have been spelling it incorrectly as the traditional Irish spelling.

Incidentally, didn't Shawn say he was part Irish?

A couple other thoughts:

Was it a weird camera angle or did they seem to suggest that the dentist was going to jump off the cliff? He stumbled forward in a weird way and shook his head and said no... as the PA quickly moved closer... that was super weird... and it did appear to be the actual ledge, though that could have been the result of a low camera shot not capturing the terrain accurately.

I'm REALLY over Brit (to the point that I had to google the show to remember her name)... can we stop following them yet? Apparently the jobless singer has to go home... and they've been together for the last month or so... but they didn't appear to be really connected... not super touchy, and she's still using that overanimated friendly girl face like we use when someone we aren't into talks to us and we are trying to be polite. I think she's enjoying the camera visits.

I am noticing Kaitlyns wonky eye more and eye. I've paused it a couple times to figure out what I'm seeing because I do think she's beautiful but somethings off with the eyes: the eye on the Left side of the tv screen takes a wander over to the far left... as the Right eyelid drops down a little. You can see it in close ups/one on ones where the light reflection is absent in the eye on the right, but the left eye will be sparkling.

I don't think she'll go for Ben. He's a little too bland/low key for her. But she may sample the goods and give him a bit of the ol' how's your father.

I think they spent their budget on guests, the comedian and was it Lola Ali the boxing champ?

No way they expected Britt to win on the first night. It's pretty clear things were slanted towards Kaitlyn from the beginning. They only said it was a close call to get us to watch and stir up buzz and free publicity.

But either way, yes I do agree that they've put fewer resources into this season. We're down to the final three and they've only gone to one out-of-country destination. During Chris Soules' season, I get that they were hamming up the All America thing, but they don't have that excuse with Kaitlyn. She's from Canada! They should be traveling the world like normal. Why are they skimping on the budget this season? Even the date budget seems to have been sliced - they're just doing sillly skits in odd historic sites - that's practically free. No helicopters that I can remember, no big concerts - the fanciest thing I can remember is when they had the Met to themselves. That was awesome, but it's like the only high-end date all season. Sure it's more realistic and there's enough drama to fill the show, but a large part of what I enjoy about the Bachelor franchise is the escapism of these over the top dates with incredibly beautiful people. For me, that's the fun part, more so than the drama and tears.

I've posted a few times before; agree with the recent comments as well. There really is barely any mention of marriage or family life among the contestants or by Kaitlyn. As the star on this one, Kaitlyn has I think handled those tough situations and conversations maturely, and in an even temper (except a few times we're seeing her cry, saying she F'd up, etc., but I think she's allowed to feel this way ...) Overall, though, it does feel like she's literally just trying to feel up the guys (!) ... first, anyway. She stressed how intimacy is crucial to her, and no doubt, she's getting a lot of that ahead of her hometown dates.

I agree. It does feel like a different show and maybe that's what they're going for. I remember reading in Chris Harrison's blog last season that they were taking themselves less seriously - they realize that the premise is a bit silly, the cat's out of the bag on the fact that they do pick some crazy contestants, and that while they genuinely do hope for a happy couple at the end, it's rather ridiculous process at times. I think with farmer Chris, they were going for more funny and more silly. With Kaitlyn, I think they initially were intending to keep the funnier, sillier angle but then the drama started and just kept coming, so they decided to milk that instead. I'm sure it's working too - rankings must be good given all that's happened.

...the one on one (literally) date and the fantasy suite...they were only 10 days apart, I believe.

I think the "engagements" are really more like "hey, let's go steady!" -- so maybe that's how the couple looks back at it. The public nature of the undecidedness (same could be said of Bachelor Chris and Whitney -- and we know how that turned out)... that would be difficult to live down (especially with family members).

I think you're right but I also think that men generally are considered more predatory than women sexually, in terms of the "bachelor" franchise.

I find it kind of strange that this season there really isn't much talk of marriage and family! Seems like we typically hear much more from the contestants about how they are ready for a family, wife/husband, etc., etc.

Think back to Whitney -- she was ready to get preggie asap!

I know guys might be a little different, but it just seems like we are watching a different show. No one is really talking about that. It's all about when who is sleeping with whom. In past episode, we saw the couples interacting with kids (sometimes the child of the lead). This time is was a ruse about tweens and sex ed. And even the dates have been strange -- sumo wrestling and boxing and what not. I know they like to pull people out of their comfort zones, but seems like we haven't seen a lot of the courtships.... just kissing and kissing and angry jealousy.

I don't know if Kaitlyn has impressed me enough or even introduced herself enough for me to really cheer for her.
