It never occurred to us to do this, because we suck at decorating and our nursery literally has "art that we did not know where else to put in the house" (sorry if that makes me a bad parent to DCUM). But now that DC is 1.5 and is really interested in letters, I actually would love to have her name on the wall for her to learn it. Maybe we'll do it for both DC and the new baby when we move.
We didn't put the baby's name on the wall of our nursery, mainly because it was a weird shaped room with sloped ceilings so there wasn't room for any art. But when each child moved to their larger long-term bedrooms around age 2 we did put up their names in wooden letters. 10 yr old DD still likes having it up but 11 yr old DS has taken it down to make room for other things.
