My dh was walking our dog at night a year or so ago and thought he came upon a domestic abuse situation. He heard "YOU are a FATASS! I CANNOT BELIEVE HOW FAT YOU ARE! you have only gotten bigger and slower over the years! It's inappropriate- let's measure this- wow your ass goes from here...... To here!! And I blame myself! It's all my fault- I did this to you! How have you gotten SO FAT???" My husband was cringing and finally glances over the fence and it's a guy talking to his fat golden lab, who is on its back, soaking up all the love and petting. We still lol about that.
Our dog- last thing was "wow you have a lot of bumfur knots!! Let me help you with that!"

Ohhhhh. That's really nice.
We've been through this with four dogs and each time I have said the same thing: whispering "Good dog, good girl/boy, good dog, good dog" until it was over. I figured that was what they'd associate with feeling happy and safe and like good things were going to happen. :sigh:
+1 Two dogs for us and one pretty close to her time. So hard.
