Really?
NP - yes, really. It doesn't look that different at all.
Post the acceptances of the "W" school. BS otherwise.
None of this is official and you probably won't believe me, but (about) 4 kids are going to Princeton, 3 to Stanford, 1 to Yale, 6 to Cornell, 5 to Duke, 2 to Brown, 1 to Caltech, 1 to Columbia, 4 to UChicago, 8 to Vandy, 4 to Wash U, 4 to Penn, 5 to Berkeley, 5 to Hopkins...
I expected way better from TJ considering they're a magnet school and have a bigger class. I have no idea where his classmates got in, just where they're going.
You are right -- its not believable, because it is not true. There are stats available for the W schools also. Looks nothing like that. More likely one kid accepted to several ivies, you counted each separately, but dream on.

Class of 2014 included 1 CalTech, 1 Cal PolyTech, 10 Stanford, 6 Berkeley, 1 USAF Academy, 8 Michigan, 20 Carnegie Mellon, 12 MIT, 52 William & Mary, 65 UVA, 24 VA Tech, 4 Brown, 3 Harvard (one with gap year), 9 Princeton, 3 Columbia, 23 Cornell, 2 USNA, 6 GA Tech, etc.
Last year there were also 1 or 2 to USMA (West Point).
And the US naval Academy in Annapolis

Anonymous wrote:So after looking at the list, is TJ better or worse for a student's college prospects? The interesting question is and has been that an average TJ student would probably be in top 5% at the base school and probably do better in terms of college acceptances. I think average TJ student is virtually guaranteed acceptances to UVA/W&M but I am not sure if top 5% graduate from NVa base school is virtually guaranteed to same school.

I think "W" schools are more similar to Langley than TJ looking at all of the lists.
The W schools are more similar to Langley than TJ, but they'll have slightly better looking lists because the MoCo magnet programs (Blair for STEM and RM for IB) have fewer slots than TJ.
