Stone was a half carat gift from a family member, setting was $1000. No regrets. I've never wanted headlight on my (very small) hand, and we needed the money for other things.

I paid 17k for DW's engagement ring. It was a great deal. 1.8 round solitaire excellent quality stone. Paid cash for it and had it set in platinum. Very basic, just stunning. The whole cash is king concept played out well. We have it insured for 25k which is what it would cost retail.

Agree. Pp with the ring back. I never put that demand in his head. It's also the highest or near highest of the 3cs. Not things I cared about either But DH did...

The one he proposed with was a family heirloom worth $40k. I was stunned, and uncomfortable wearing it every day...so I picked out a $1k ring from an estate jeweler (I love old jewelry). Now that I'm older, I feel like I grew into the fancier ring, so I wear it.

Couldn't believe she got the ring in 1932, the height of the Great Depression.

$3500 for .75 carats, 2006. I liked it at the time, now not so much. Wish I had just a simple band. I took a sapphire band I bought years and years ago, had it resized and wear that sometimes instead. It turns out I just don't like diamonds that much.

I handle the finances, and added a rider to our homeowner's policy to cover the ring. The company asked for the appraisal. That's how I found out. Does your husband handle the insurance stuff?


Yes, he handles the bills.
