No. I was almost 21. I was finally curious enough to see what all the fuss was about. But I'd never had a serious boyfriend before so while I could have had the opportunity prior with some random guy, that just hadn't been my thing.

I think it's a matter of looking back on that milestone with an older but wiser perspective. And I don't think it's weird to have fond memories of that first time or regrets that things didn't happen differently for you. Certainly, an experience at 14 is going to be a whole lot different than an experience at 19.

Thank you! Even as teenagers, we realized that our personal worth wasn't based on the status of our virginity. I'm very sorry that your parents didn't teach you the same thing.

I was 14 when I lost it to a guy I had been very close to for over a year. Then 2 weeks after having sex with him, my parents surprised me with the fact we were moving away to another state. I was so upset having to leave and do wish I was more emotionally prepared at that point. After we moved I ended up meeting a guy on my first day of 9th grade and we fell madly in love. He was a virgin. After dating 8 months we had sex. I took his virginity and he was 15. We ended up being HS sweet hearts and even dated when we both went away to college. I thought he would be the man I ended up spending my life with. While away at college he ended up cheating on me and we broke up. I was devastated. At that point I decided I would sow my wild oats and I had a really good time. I did not have another serious BF until after graduate school and then met my DH when I was 28. He had only ever been with one other person before me. His HS sweet heart and yet he is amazing in bed. I think together we have an amazing sex life. He never cared that I was "more experienced" than he was. I don't have any regrets about my sexual history, other than emotionally feeling very overwhelmed having to move away from the person I just gave my virginity up to.

Gosh, I'm WAY older than 21 (like well more than twice that age) but I will never forget my first time. I'll never forget graduation, meeting dh, buying our first home, getting married, having our children...

Of course I remember and sometimes think about the milestones in my life. Including this one. Especially now that I'm a parent to teens....
