Aren't we all? It is just one of the very few DC places I can think of that are tasty and appropriately priced.

I know places. I'm not telling all the suburbanites on this thread so they can fire up their pie wagons and drive over bridges and highways to clog our streets to come to our places. Let them go to Alexandria. That's a thing, right? They have food.

Agree. But, to use the faux boho of Bethesda is a bad example. Virtually every restaurant in downtown Bethesda is laughably over priced and the food tastes as though it was prepared by ex cons trained in a work release program: fried, lumpen, bland offerings. SWEET GREENS? REALLY? More like EXTRUDED YARD WASTE.

Maggiano's is fine to have a family meal that I didn't have to cook. It's corporate owned, industrial food served in a delightful setting (Sinatra and Louis Prima on rotation in the background).

The person upthread saying this is why DC restaurants are bad: stfu. OP asked for inexpensive family restaurants. DC is on par with Chicago, Miami and even LA for restaurant quality when it comes to the mid range. Its best restaurants begin to nip the heels of New York and Paris--I've eaten at Taillevent and La Cirque more than once--and many places in between all over the world. Get over yourself; we're talking reasonably priced, serviceable family eating here.

Silver Diner up the Pike is great for families. The food is delicious. Get the salmon slider appetizers. The menu has a calorie count for each item. Lunch for a family of 4 is @ $50. (that's with a delicious milkshake, appetizer and entree for everyone)

We really like Silver Diner, its not to far up the pike from Bethesda. Have you tried Pacci's Trattoria?

Hanks in Dupont is a go to for us and always terrific. Love it.

In Bethesda I actually have been pretty happy with Lebanese Taverna.
