Just have a net around it, or it's suicide.

Every kid in my neighborhood has a trampoline. And as for being trashy, hardly. Even the doctor down the street has one. And *shudder* he has an above ground pool with a big ass deck around it. Oh the horror. The golfers must hide their eyes when cruising my hood. How dare someone be so low class in the GATED COMMUNITY !!

The only thing I can say about the trampolines I see is the shiny wears off quick and more often than not, they sit, longing for a kid to come jump.

If you want one, kid wants one, get one. Don't let the snobs ruin your fun.

Our friend have one that has no springs and a safety net. Honestly with only one kid jumping at at time, it seems pretty safe. Withe two jumping I get a little worried, but I also think kids need to learn to have a little danger in thier lives so they can handle life.

I would be more worried about liability. And how disgusting it could get. Our toddler play set used to get covered in bugs and spiders and bird poop. In our yard I would imagine a netted in trampoline would soon develop its own insect ecosystem.

Our neighbors have one the kids all love it, ours included. But there are lots of minor injuries (sprains, etc.) and we only allow DD, 2, on alone or with another really small child. Another neighbor hates letting her daughter on since she broke her leg on a different trampoline a few years ago. I would never get one myself, and I cringe watching multiple kids jumping at once, but I do see how fun they are for the kids.

I was pretty severely injured as a kid when on a trampoline and landed in that empty spot between bounce part and frame. That said, I know they make ones that don't have that empty space so I would consider it with a net around the edges.

My mom broke her arm walking up a slide when younger, my brother fell onto a grate and needed stitches, I fell off my bike onto a freshly tarred driveway (also broke my arm)... Kids get hurt. My siblings and I are actually quite coordinated, played sports through college and what not. I wasn't scarred for life by any injuries or by doing some of the crazy stuff we did as children.

We don't have space for one currently (townhouse), but I would consider getting one for DD from ages 4-10. Good friends got one for their children, but one child has low muscle tone, so it was a fun way to get him using his muscles more. I don't think he uses it as much these days (he's 11).

I wouldn't admit that I fell while running. Coordination clearly is not an attribute of yours. Probably best to not let your children do any sports.

i broke my elbow when i fell while running. I guess I should never run or eve walk outside again.

Ya know, some kids cant walk, talk and chew bubble gum at the same time. Some are just prone to injuries no matter what they do. Some kids just dont belong on a trampoline.
