There are like 4 dog parks in Old Town Alexandria. I'm amazed at the entitled owners who *still* think it's ok to walk their dogs off leash or on one of those ridiculous 10-foot long "leashes" around the area.

. Christ, even NYC allows dogs off leash during specific times in Central Park. It's hard to believe DC folks are so conservative and...dare I say such pussies? Never had this problem in other cities or other countries. At least we do a good job cleaning up our dog's shit here. Try walking around Paris sometime.

Really? Because most 2 year olds are dodgy at best even on a sidewalk. They meander and or bolt off in wild directions at the slightest stimulus. I could see taking one to an open park, but trying to make progress on a trail hike in the woods with a walking 2 year old sounds like idiocy. They'd just go tearing off into the poison ivy.

People who get weirdly defensive and obsessive about their dogs are creepy. You love your dog - but it doesn't mean everyone else needs to. So keep it on a (non-retractable) leash.
