It seems implausible that you would have voted for Obama once, if not twice. You are bringing up points from the 2008 campaign.

You have captured my feelings perfectly.
I also don’t think he really likes the job. He seems to enjoy the perks, but not the job itself.

Going back, I wouldn't have voted for Bush in 2004. My less experienced college self thought at the time building Iraq and A-stan into democracies would be possible and beneficial.

In 2008, I wish I had voted for Hillary in the primary. She has more political combat experience than Obama does, and would have carpet bombed the Tea Party when it arose instead of spending 6 years trying to negotiate with it.

He's had an impossibly difficult task and has still managed to move this country ahead. I think history will regard him kindly, and not because of his skin color.

I think recent history will be kind to him because of his skin color but I think long term history will show he was a disaster. Don't get me wrong, he seems like a nice guy but he was not ready and has made many many poor choices that down the line will show his inadequacy

OP here. This is what I think about how Obama will be viewed historically as well. I think he just wasn't ready for the politics of it all. He got his big chance with Obamacare, and screwed it up.

I also think GWB will be viewed poorly through the lens of time as well, basically due to the Iraq war. By then we'll have forgotten about the WMD, but we'll remember that it was GWB who pushed it.

Voted for Bush twice. No regrets

Voted for Obama first and had regrets. Did not vote for him again. He has been worse in his 2nd term so no regrets.

Like other things, Obama is leaving the stock market debacle for the next president to deal with.
You can’t keep printing money, and keep interest rates low with no ramifications.
He’s making himself look good. But, when the money-making stops and when interest rates go up - look out.
But, O doesn’t care - he will be out of office. Leave a mess for the next guy.

Oh no no no no no. Conservatives have made it clear time and time again that we are not allowed to blame presidents for the economic impacts that occur during their successor's presidency. Right? Right???

What bubble do you think is coming next? Have you looked at the unemployment rate compared to Western Europe?

And this is reminding me of how very hard I have to bite my tongue around my BIL who rants about taking the country back while taking government assistance to feed his kids. Dumbass.

You're too good. I would at least withhold biting my tongue once, just to see the stupidity cross his face when the lightbulb goes on.

I have a really hard time not just looking at him and telling him straight to his face he's an effing moron.

Oh, and last new year's, my FIL and my husband me aunt were arguing with me about the responsibility issues with those in poverty. It took all my will power not to say "ok, case in point - your own idiot child who is 40 and lives at home with 2 kids he never should have had"

Family is taking responsibility in this man's case. his parents are stepping in to help.

I have news for you. The grandparents step in most of the time, no matter where you live.

The fact is that the 40 year old is still on welfare and yet he and the grandparents are disparaging welfare "takers". He is the perfect example of the "taker". He's 40, he wasted the many opportunities for advancement, he does not control his reproduction, he fathers children with women who abandon them and the does it all over again. The only discernible difference between him and the welfare queen is the fact that he is a man, and that he openly bites the hand that feeds him.

I never said I blame conservative's children for anything. I said only #1 - red states are poorer (this is a fact that can be easily verified) and #2 - my conservative in-laws are hypocrites who bitch about the gov't and irresponsible poor people while my BIL takes gov't help and acts completely irresponsibly.

None of this was an argument for how the gov't and the economy should operate here or in any other country.
