We are surprised by the rape statistics?

People like you are exactly the problem - victims are not to blame. A woman could be walking naked down the street hopped up on every drug available and she's still not asking to be raped. The assumption that the victim is culpable in her own assault is fucked up.
Also - please stop whining about 'not all men.' Yeah, we get it. Not all men are predators or rapists. But guess what - ALL women have to deal with the systematic oppression of rape culture. Ask any woman you know - I bet every single one of them has a story about being cat called or groped or harassed at work or, yes, even raped. I bet most if them hav several. So sit down for a minute - it's not fucking about you.
First off, I suggest YOU "sit down for a minute" and stop trying to control this thread and the opinions expressed within it. I haven't seen one post which even suggests victim blaming; good try, making that one up and repeating it over and over. You obviously enjoy inaccurately spinning other people's words so you can get in everyone's face and pick a fight. Please, show us the post that states the above bolded statement - oh right, no one said that, you completely made it up.
10:25 - "people need to stop making themselves easy targets"
11:09 - "too easy to claim rape"
12:41 - "students, especially young women, need to watch binge drinking"
14:37 - "a better handle on the concept of rape vs regret"
14:39 - "put some clothes on the female news anchors"
There ya go, sport.
x2. I'm pretty sure we are responding to a troll. The worst kind- a misogynist one. And one who refuses to own up to their own misogyny.

The PPs who have made the most sense are those who are advocating real help for victims: urging them to report the rape immediately and gather evidence so as to convict the perps and prevent it from happening again. You want to paint it as if anyone encouraging rape reporting must be somehow blaming the victim???? You're making no sense whatsoever, just talking bloody nonsense. If you truly wanted to help rape victims, you would STFU with your stupid platitudes and cliches and advocate getting real help for rape victims. You have absolutely nothing substantive to add to the conversation.

Sorry, blanket statements don't work for either side of this discussion. My friends and I are part of ALL Women and have not had to deal with the systematic oppression of rape culture as you choose to call it. Catcalled, groped and harassed at work, all of us? Sounds like someone takes herself way too seriously. I truly feel for you if you have been raped -- no woman should have to go through that ever -- but equating this other juvenile male nonsense that most of us manage to ignore with rape, is just silly.
