NP. Why do you say this? Is Holton not academically challenging? We’re applying to the lower school and thought it was supposed to be excellent. Can you say more?

Gilman , Roland Park, Bryn Mawr , Loyola Blakefield , Landon are up there too

No way and nor do I want Holton to be rigorous. My both DDs attend it and are super happy there. One of the key reasons is it a beautifully well balanced program that suits each of my DD's needs. One is methodical systematic but not a math superstar and the other is a math star with good (but not genius level) science and reasoning skills.

Both though enjoy learning and do well in both classes and outside competitions. I didnt expect Holton to drill them or make it so super like the MoCo Gifted program. They also enjoy all the other activities in the school - sports, music etc and are well rounded which is what I pay for so we are content. No need to be super rigorous, please no.

Holton's average SAT scores from the school profile are 680 reading and 670 math.

Blair Magnet's average SAT scores on their site are 744 reading/writing and 787 math.

LOL. H-A is not even near the top. Usually have less than 1/2 dozen NMSF kids. Google “NMSF winners by school, Montgomery county” see it yourself

I didn't read that as trying to one up the kids, just someone interested in data. DD has an ACT above 33 and an UW GPA of 3.9+. There are plenty of high stats kids, but I couldn't tell you the class averages. The school profile with class of 2017 data is linked below. As the student stated above, there is no grade inflation. It's not unusual for girls to get a B or B+ in an AP class and still score a 5.

Am I reading this report correctly? It sites an average ACT composite score of 31 and not the 33 or 34 thrown out by posters. It also references 6 NMSF students and not the 38 or 41 mentioned previously. This is from the school, correct, and not some second had source? Perhaps that original posters should restate their starting position on the subject under the circumstances. A meaningful discrepancy exists.
