The peanut butter/cheddar dessert at Qui in Austin. Actually the entire meal was amazing!

There was a NY Times article about this pizza back in 2008-2009 that was so well-written I could taste the pizza - and I've never actually had it. I used to use it with my students as an example of sensory writing. I tried searching the archives but can't find it.

I find this hard to believe. I don't think most people like sushi if they never heard of it. Perhaps they have been primed for it, with all the hype... it is still trendy.

This is not the reaction that my aunt saw when she served large platter of sushi at a wedding in the 70's. People were grossed out by eating raw fish wrapped over vinegar rice. I think this reaction would be the norm, like eating raw beef tartar.

Farmer's market peaches... I count the days till we can enjoy those again. Ripe peaches and nectarines, eaten with really good dark chocolate, are magic for me.

Of course, almost anything with really good dark chocolate -- or, hell, really good dark chocolate by itself -- does it for me.

P.S. -- Thanks for starting this positive thread.

The best meal I've ever had was at the closed Maestro's at Tysons. Seven course tasting menu. Eaten with someone very special. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

Never had it, been meaning to try it...DH is away on business so it's just me and DD for dinner. I think tonight is the night!

The best peruvian chicken I had in the DC area is at a place in Fairfax, on Lee Highway, in the back of a building with a Duron paint store in the front. I don't even know the name of it but it looks shady as hell. Best. Food. Ever.

That place is terrible! Pollo Rico is my gold standard.
