By 13, I had (for a few years already) been enjoying 15-20 minute showers and my parents never said a thing nor disturbed my privacy.

And YES the massage shower head was being used for what a girl SHOULD use it for LOL! Why else do they make them that way??? It was my first boyfriend and I remain forever thankful!!!

She shares a room with her sister. Where else could she go to get some privacy? And no, the need for privacy has nothing to do with whether she is comfortable being naked around her family. Nudists like to be alone sometimes too.

10-15 minutes is plenty long for a shower. Unless they're turning on the water, spending some "personal time" while the water runs, and then actually getting into the business of showering, then it may take a little longer. Although for a 12 year old boy, probably not much more than a minute or two.

Clearly some of your families have ENORMOUS water heaters.

I like showers. I start to feel guilty after around 8 minutes of water use. Sure, I can afford the water, but I don't like to be wasteful.

I think 10 minutes is plenty of time to get clean and wash hair.
Give her a timer in the bathroom set to 10 minutes.

She is not experienced enough to get off in 7 minutes though.

Agree. My 10 yo DS would never get out. Oh course he has ADHD and who knows WHAT he is doing in there. Probably not actually washing his hair. I think 40 min is WAAAy too long and a total waste of water. We had to buy a visual timer for that bathroom--sometimes he uses it, otherwise we pound on the door.
