It sounds like that woman is just the jealous type. I don't think you have anything to apologize for. I imagine that could even !make the situation worse. Let it die.
an achievement?
lol
OK, June Cleaver! glad you could earn your MRS degree in college

Years ago I had to deal with a couple of girls who had it in their head my boyfriend was *meant* to be with her and he just didn't know it yet. How this happened to me twice with two different guys and two different "friends" I don't know but it can be pretty stressful depending on how delusional/obsessed she is.
+1. My husband had an ex-girlfriend (who lived on the other side of the country, no chance of affair) ask him for our address. He gave it to her, thinking she was sending a Christmas card. She sent him diamond Movado watch. We been married for 7 years and together for 10 at this point. He sent them back and blocked her number from his phone. He also will not get a Facebook account because of her.
Another co-worker declared herself his backup wife if we ever get divorced. At first he thought it was funny, but she kept mentioning it. He had to put a stop to it, which of course she replied she was only joking. Very uncomfortable.

Once a person is married, they can only be a good prospect for a no-strings attached affair. It is not as if the "handsome" man will leave his wife to marry someone else.
I find insecure wives of handsome men most tiring. No one wants your DH to father their children. Chill!
Not always. I've worked with a few hot married men who were definitely on the prowl.

I'm married to the 'eye candy' of our elementary school. The shit people say and even worse the shit people tell me they say when I'm not around.
