Dated two years, engaged after 1st six months. Did not live together and were long distance most of the time.

I met my DH when I was 20, he 21...personally it seems to me easier to be able to get along with someone when you settle down before you are set in your ways. I cannot imagine living by myself until o was 36 and then have to adapt to someone other than me scratching my ass and farting in bed.
+1. I think getting married young is the secret. After 22 before 30. People are always worried about couples who marry early, but the ones who marry earlier normally spend more time dating and have no pressing issues (like wanting to start a family or finally settle down).

Very happily married for the last nine years.
This is very similar to us (except getting married on the anniversary of meeting).
Dated for a little over a year and then lived together for about 2 years before getting married.
We were 30 when married and have been happily married for almost 9 years.

The first time we dated about a year. The second time it was about 8 months.
We lived together after we were engaged and about 6 months prior to our marriage.

I think this is very true. It also helps, IMO, that if you get together young, you have more time to discover each other before the kids come along (because we got together when I was 21 and he was 20, we had almost a decade to ourselves before we had children and I really think it strengthened our bond).
