The tension is evident it is the cost of being diverse. No big deal there's black and white students that just don't get along. There's nothing to be alarmed about..I wouldn't use the word hate, it is what it is. Just like there's certain areas of the city that blacks and whites avoid that is what is done at Wilson.

I have yet to encounter racism from DCPS students I've encountered lots of racism from DC parents particularly the ones on DCUM. You've got to be carefully taught, I suppose.

Well we are talking about a white child who's avoiding predominantly AA populated application only schools e.g. Banneker, SWW and McKinley to attend a diverse comprehensive school. If I was the parent I would cut my losses too and attend Wilson with the false sense of security. You do know the racial tension/hatred at Wilson is at its all time high.

DCPS and DC Public Charter create their own chicken and egg situation as a matter of policy. Where are the elementary GT programs? Language immersion lotteries for native speakers (other than Oyster) and middle school immersion programs? Test-in middle schools period? Charter schools with great facilities, including playing grounds/courts? High wattage test in high school programs, including for STEM and International Baccalaureate? The burbs provide the programs to generate the Merit Scholars. DC's fine with 7 Scholars when it should have them in the double digits by now.

Exactly, how many of these Banneker children have you met? How do you know how they were raised? You don't. You just don't want your child attending a school with Black children who don't see themselves as inferior. As long as you can place Blacks in the Ballou, Anacostia, or Woodson category, you feel good about yourself. Many of the students at Banneker will be attending universities that are majority white. Truthfully, there is a lot of documented world history that might warrant such vilification from various global socially-constructed racialized groups.

Vilification of other students is warranted based on world history? That's the kind of attitude I'm looking for in a school!

It appears that what people like you are looking for is a DCPS school that has enough high-performing white students to make you feel comfortable.
