Yes, it's cultural.
Cultural to be wimps? Why is that?![]()
They are raised to be smart, industrious, rule followers. Working hard and playing by the rules isn't sexy in our culture. (I don't know enough about other cultures to say whether this is universal or just some sort of pathology of the American woman.)
Oh please. If you were soaked in East Asian pop culture you would start to find them hot. You've just been conditioned by mass media. AA men are just not represented in movies, film, etc. and certainly not as leading men when they are. You grow up seeing emasculated characters for AA men, and you wonder why these guys don't turn you on.
As a previous poster said, go live in South Korea for a few years. Those guys are very masculine, even when they are bagging your groceries. Korean men are definitely not wimps. They drink like fish, stoic, very old-school in culture. Kind of like Italian men, with an Irish love of the booze. When they are drunk, they are often weepy too, like Jews are when sober.
The bad ones can go overboard and be sexist, in that "women have no place in the workplace" kind of way.
Jews used to be thought of as "wimpy" for the same reasons, until you saw pictures of those Israeli soldiers packing heat in fatigues (I'm not Jewish, not trying to start anything about Middle East policies, just on how certain men are portrayed). Jewish guys are also now getting more exposure too in pop culture, without having to hide their ethnicity like in decades past.

PP here who's white married to an Asian. I guess people who like white men in America are equating "sexy" with "macho"? In my experience, white men are so full of macho bullshit that they are next to impossible to be with. My DH is very masculine in a way that doesn't require him to posture and act like a ridiculous, insecure masculine caricature like most white men I've dated. Because it's so "masculine" to insult women, drive super fast, play video games all the time, and pretend to hate being in a stable relationship.Ugh, just thinking of my experiences dating white guys makes me groan -- it was like dating 30-year-olds who were perpetually mentally 14.

I don't care if I get flamed, but I want my kids to look like me (Scandinavian descent) and only dated people who wouldn't have super dominant genes. I'm not racist and have no problem with anyone daring whoever they want. For me it was just a preference.
Funny. I'm blond/blue, too and those are the weaker traits. More prone to skin cancer etc. Married an Arab guy. Very glad my son has darker skin than me.
Weird how genes work. I'm Asian and married to a blond, blue-eyed man of Scottish descent. Our child is the spitting image of his dad; the only thing he got from me is a more olive complexion, as opposed to the ruddy, yet pale Scottish complexion my husband was blessed with. I've seen other half Asian/half white kids with almost blonde hair and blue eyes too. It happens.
Oh yes, it does happen. I didn't mean to imply I married to have darker skinned kids or assumed it would be the case. I'm Scottish/Dutch, and EVERYONE in my extended family has had skin cancer. I didn't care what my kid looked like, but I'm grateful he's got more natural protection than my family. (Yes he still uses sunscreen).
Weird gene poster you're responding to- sorry, I didn't mean to imply that you were implying....I was more referring to the Scandinavian poster just to say that her blonde blue eyes can still come out the winners even with more dominant genes. But what I'm wondering is if she'd only marry another blond blue eyed white person?
