Thank you and same here. We buy new and keep for 10 years. But when people buy a used car that is 2-3 years old (not counting off lease cars) they usually have troubles. That is why they are selling them.

that is not true. a 2-3 car will likely not need a major repair (transmission, exhaust, etc.). 6-7 years old, yes.

Not possible. 10 years with no repairs. Still the same tires, brakes, wipers, etc. I don't think so unless you drive 500 miles a year.

If you consider the bold items "repairs" and do not have money for that, Mercedes is waaayy out of reach for you.

If you are looking for a car only for yourself I still wouldn't buy Mercedes, but a different more comfortable car with a bit of extras would be well worth it for me.

There are a lot of affordable brands around that have luxury editions - that might be a better way to go. My in-laws have a Corolla and while I love the gas mileage it's not the most comfortable car around - then my parents came to visit and rented a Corola Luxury edition. Man what a difference! All the neat extras, nicer look inside and much more comfy for long trips as well. Probably too small for a family car, but the point still stands. I think a luxury version of a great affordable family car will serve you better than a Mercedes just for yourself.

Maybe I am biased...I don't think Mercedes is worth the money, you pay for the name. Tons of better brands around for the same money or even less.

I would deff look @ acura
Mazdas are way to noisy to my taste, they not in the same league with Mersedes/Acuras/BMW/etc.

I really want to buy a gently used Mazda 6 for about $28K. Get Bluetooth, back-up camera, decent mileage, leather seats, etc. But I keep getting pulled back to looking at 2012 BMW 5series and 2012 Mercedes E Class coupes. Is there a middle ground that would be more reasonable? Lexus is not any cheaper. I don't like the look of the Acuras.

Yes, but they better be because you're there all of the time. The only thing better than the Mercedes service is not having to drag your ass and your car to the dealership every other month! I got quite sick of Euromotor Cars before I finally decided to trade in my always-in-the-shop Mercedes for a car that didn't need so much maintenance and repairs. All my friends with Mercedes complain about how many issues they have with their cars.

I've never had any issues with my cars being at the shop often. Just picked up my new S-class a week ago. This makes my 5th.
