I haven't given up yet, and my kid is almost 8. I want another child and I can't make that feeling go away.

And for some of us, this news is still fresh. It feels like a death. Would you tell someone dealing with a family member's death to.just get over it? I'm not wallowing, but it is hard. And if other people's sadness makes you feel mean, self-righteous and angry, I feel fucking sorry for you.
Only having one child feels like a death?!!?!? God, I feel sorry for YOU. And your poor child, who has to deal with a parent who is a complete drama queen.

Really? My sister is my best friend. She is the one person in the world who pretty much knows every single thing about me. Yes, probably even more than my spouse because he missed the first 25 years and I'm sure I forgot to tell him something. She is the first person I call to tell any news in my life - good or bad. And vice versa.
I have several female friends who are very close to sisters.
It's a wonderful relationship if you have it and I feel truly blessed.
Same here. My sister is the only person in the world to whom I can tell absolutely anything, and I will always be accepted.

I find this post odd.
My sister is my other half. The only person in this whole world whom I love more than my sister is my (only) child.
Me too, identical twin here. My sister is my other half, went to same high school, college and live near each other now. Never any competition. Of course, we've had our moments when we were younger like everyone else.
